The MacGuffin
by Philter on Jun.17, 2009, under Dungeons and Dragons, Fiction, Gaming
It seems to me that every good dungeon raid needs a macguffin for the party to loot, and a map to the macguffin is always helpful. In this case the burial chamber is that of a hero of the first Crusade, who promised to come back and aid his knights from beyond the grave. It would be a bit easy to make it a sword, bindun quite a number of times before. Armour of course has also been done, after all, what else was Waylander hired to find.

Narrowly escaping the clutches of a suspicious inquisitor they contract to a minor lord, they sail to the crusades, storming the beach, and fight their way across country to reach the artifact, nearly losing one of their number to ______. When they reach the artifacts burial place, they find it’s buried beneath a city of pagans, and sealed inside a tomb full of lethal traps.

well, I say “art”, what I mean is “things that I really do need to get on with shortly”.
Strike Face 3

The ambush site was once a small gas stop and maybe somebody’s home out in the middle of nowhere. The underground tanks were long since dry, abandoned as the gas shortages force the owner out of business. It was just a little spot where useful idiots would leave a little food and water, maybe some sunblock. The immi’s coming over the wall followed maps or signs left in the desert, found the cache and maybe they lived to walk through the desert another day.
Of course after the Wall Act, It’d be a year of community labour for anyone caught supplying the immi’s, but it didn’t stop the bleeding hearts of California.
